Support for children from the Lejasstrazdi Children's Home: Initiative of the Entrepreneurs' Club

This year, the Entrepreneurs' Club undertook an important social initiative to support children from the Lejasstrazdi orphanage in Dobele. Given the importance of diverse development and socialisation for the orphanage children, the club organised a number of exciting and useful activities for them, which left unforgettable impressions and contributed to their personal growth.

Nature hike

The first activity was a hike in the picturesque surroundings of Dobele. For many children it was their first experience of a long stay in nature, where they could enjoy the fresh air, get acquainted with the flora and fauna of the region, and learn the basics of survival in natural conditions. The camping trip was organised by professional instructors who conducted master classes on making a fire, setting up tents and cooking on an open fire. This experience not only entertained the children, but also gave them useful skills, increased their self-confidence and team building.

Breakdance training

The next stage of the programme was breakdancing training by experienced dancers from the Entrepreneurs' Club. The dance classes helped the children to develop physical stamina, movement coordination and expressiveness. Breakdancing as a form of street art also taught them to express themselves through movement and music, and gave them the opportunity to feel rhythm and synchronisation. For many students these trainings became a discovery of new talents and a way to relieve stress, express their emotions and energies.

Diving course

The final and perhaps the most exciting event was a diving course. The children from the orphanage learnt the basics of scuba diving under the guidance of certified instructors. The course included a theoretical part, where the children learnt about safety underwater, the use of equipment and the basics of underwater ecology, as well as practical exercises in the pool. For many, it was their first experience of scuba diving, which opened up a new world and new opportunities for them.

Outcomes and significance of the activities

These activities, organised by the Entrepreneurs' Club, made a huge difference to the children from the Lejasstrazdi Children's Home. They not only gave the children the opportunity to try something new and interesting, but also contributed to their physical and psychological development, socialisation and confidence building. Initiatives like this are an important contribution to the well-being and future of orphanage residents, setting an example of social responsibility and active participation in society.

The Entrepreneurs Club plans to continue supporting the Lejasstrazdi Children's Home by developing new projects and programmes to improve the quality of life and opportunities for children.
